Amanda and Darren hit the Ad World (2)

We check in once again with Amanda Langdon and Darren Ray who are currently interning at Y&R Toronto. Honestly, I have no idea what role underwear choice has played within their internship.

Week two has come and gone and AD’s experiences show no signs of slowing down. With daily meetings, real client work coming from all directions and having a great group of people directing, AD is back to share this weeks trials and tribulations.

Top 10 Pixels for the second week:

1st:  Adobe needs to stop improving their software so quickly.
2nd:  Hand sanitizer is the most important item when making the trek to and from the office.
3rd:  Y&R could be mistaken for Mr.Christies cookie factory.
4th:  Meetings here, meetings there, meetings everywhere!
5th:  There’s never a shortage of things to do. Just ask.
6th:  Carpal tunnel: it’s a scary thing.
7th:  Choosing the right underwear can make or break your day.
8th:  You don’t choose projects, they choose you.
9th:  It’s all about optics.
10th:  Creative partners- married from 9am to 5pm, then divorced.

Highlight of the week: Getting to brainstorm for a full blown campaign was definitely on the top of AD’s list of cool opportunities. Working with different advertising mediums and having the ability to share ideas freely makes for a creative and exciting environment for ideas to be born.

Check-in next Friday to see how much Darren will weigh due to all the cookies.

Amanda Langdon takes a ride on The Big Orange Slide

A huge honour was recently bestowed on 4th year CABA student Amanda Langdon. She is the first to guest author a piece on The Big Orange Slide in a new series of student submissions. So head on over to GRIP's blog and find out how Amanda answers the question Why Advertising?
