The Best of the Digital Decade

The internet was a much different place ten years ago. Google was a mere four years old, YouTube was five years away from creation and communicating in 140 characters or less would have seemed ridiculous. It was also during the past decade that advertisers started to figure out how to use the web for meaningful and impactful interactions with potential customers. New technology and widely available high speed internet paved the way for truly interactive marketing campaigns.

The One Club recently released it's list of the best interactive work from the 'Digital Decade'. It's a great historical look at where we've been. And since advertising tends to date itself it's interesting to see what was seen as groundbreaking at the time.

I recall mentioning Subservient Chicken in class a few weeks back and being met mostly with blank stares. Well, turns out I'm not just some old guy harkening back to the good ol' days of the 'information superhighway' - that campaign was named the #1 Best Campaign of the Digital Decade.
